Getting to Brighton

 
It’s really easy to get to Brighton as it’s well connected to all the major airports, stations and motorways. It’s only 30 minutes away by train from London Gatwick Airport, 90 minutes from London Heathrow Airport and an hour from London’s main stations.


We’ve got all the information you might need covered below.

By Train

The Eurostar train arrives at London St. Pancras International Station.

There are a number of central London stations where you can catch a direct train to Brighton.  


  • London Victoria – travel time is about 50 minutes
  • London Bridge – travel time is about 1 hour
  • London St. Pancras International – travel time is about 1 hour and 20 minutes


To get the train times and prices, visit the Trainline site. Make sure you check the details of your ticket before booking as not all journey will be direct (and may end up taking longer as a result).

From Brighton Train Station to Brighton Dome Corn Exchange is approx. 8 minutes walk, to the Friends meeting House is approx. 15 minutes walk. See this map


By Air

From London Gatwick Airport to Brighton by Train
 
This is the easiest way to get from Gatwick Airport to Brighton. The station is situated in the Gatwick South Terminal - if you arrive in the North Terminal, follow signs for the South Terminal and then follow signs for the Trains.

The trains are run by Southern. You can buy the tickets in advance from Southern Trains’ site (they will be a bit cheaper if you buy them in advance) or you can buy a ticket on the day you arrive from one of the machines in the station departure hall.
Trains generally take between 30 and 40 minutes to from Gatwick Airport to Brighton.

 
From London Gatwick Airport to Brighton by Coach 
 
You can also travel to Brighton from Gatwick Airport by coach. There are National Express coach stations at both Gatwick North Terminal and Gatwick South Terminal.
You can book an advance ticket on the National Express Site  or you can buy a ticket on the day of your arrival at one of the National Express ticket desks in either of the terminals.

 
From London Gatwick Airport to Brighton by Car
 
You can hire a car at Gatwick Airport. The Gatwick Airport site allows you to compare car hire options (chose ‘UK’ as the country and ‘London Gatwick Airport’ as the city).

Please note that parking in Brighton is limited so you might want to check with your hotel or Bed and Breakfast to find out what the nearby parking options are.

From London Heathrow Airport by Train
 
To get from Heathrow Airport to Brighton by train, you will need to travel via London. This section details how to get to London from Heathrow Airport, please read the ‘By Train’ section below for details on how to get from central London stations to Brighton.


By Heathrow Express

The Heathrow Express  is the fastest, and slighly more expensive, option to get to London Paddington station.

  • If you’re arriving at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, follow signs for Trains to reach Heathrow Central station. From there, take a Heathrow Express service to London Paddington – journey time is 15 minutes.
  • In Terminal 5 the station is at basement level and reached by lift or escalator. All trains call at Heathrow Central and then run non-stop to London Paddington – total journey time is 21 minutes.
  • In Terminal 4, take the inter-terminal shuttle to Heathrow Central (departures every 15 minutes, travel time four minutes). From there, take a Heathrow Express service to London Paddington – journey time is 15 minutes.
The Heathrow Express takes approximately 15 minutes.
By Heathrow Connect

The Heathrow Connect is a little slower, but less expensive, than the Heathrow Express. It also takes you to London Paddington station.
From London Paddington, you can take the Underground Circle Line (or you can take a taxi) to London Victoria to catch the train to Victoria.

From London Heathrow Airport to Brighton by Coach
 
You can also travel to Brighton from Heathrow Airport by coach. There are coach stops within a short walking distance of Terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5. Please refer to the Heathrow Airport site for additional details.
You can book an advance ticket on the National Express site or you can buy a ticket on the day of your arrival at one of the National Express ticket desks in any of the terminals.


From London Heathrow Airport to Brighton by Car
 
You can hire a car at Heathrow Airport. The Heathrow Airport site has information on the various car hire options available to you at Heathrow.
Please note that parking in Brighton is limited so you might want to check with your hotel or Bed and Breakfast to find out what the nearby parking options are.

Brighton is a seaside town with lots of accommodation for all budgets as well as the option to rent rooms in local residents’ houses. We given you a few places where you can start looking below.
